The joys of a dorm room...

So the fire alarm has gone off four times today, well technically five but the fifth one was right after the fourth one that they told us to disregard.  But we still had to go outside for three of them!  The second one was right after my roommate said "well, I don't think the fire alarm is going to go off again" and put her coat away.  Five minutes later, you guessed it - the fire alarm went off.  At that point I commented how perhaps god wasn't really kind and benevolent and maybe he just used us for his own amusement.  After the third one I was sure.  As a result, I've been wholly unproductive today.  I am unhealthily addicted to crossword puzzles.  And also those special K strawberry granola bars.  And new music. I am going to get something done today (besides crossword puzzles)!  I'll probably just finish reading The Woman Warrior for Asian-American Lit.  Yeah... constant interruption to go outside in the -15 degrees windchill does not inspire one to get work done.  And then suddenly the day is gone.  ::sigh:: not good, not good. I have high hopes for tomorrow.  Lots of movie watching for classes, which is fun at least.  And John Edwards on Meet the Press!!!  There will be productivity, I feel it!

    1) The Woman Warrior's pretty good, that barely sounds like work.

    2) John Edwards rocks my world. "Yes, yes I will raise taxes to provide health care."

    3) Tim Russert does not rock my world because maybe it would be classy to not be the first one to bring gay marriage into these elections and maybe when the candidate explains why he will raise taxes to fund health care you don't summarize with, "Okay, there, you'll raise taxes."

I am way impressed with Edwards' responses to Tim, however.  He actually answered the questions.  He didn't beat around the bush or just ignore the questions all together.  He actually just plain answered them.  Is it sad that answering a question is now what counts as impressive in politics?

It is sad, but you're right that he answered well. Today I had a little party with a guy I work with (one day he will *be* Pastor Ray) over "No. Homosexuality is not a sin." Honest and proud is an excellent demeanor to assume when you're providing answers that make you a good, decent person. So, recap, love John, slightly disgusted with Tim.
